Guardiola celebrates 250 wins
Historic achievement for Guardiola
On the way to Brentford, Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City coach, marked a major milestone. He became the third manager in Premier League history to reach 250 wins with one club. The other managers who achieved this feat are Sir Alex Ferguson with Manchester United and Arsène Wenger from Arsenal.
Guardiola’s journey
This achievement came during Guardiola’s tenth season with Manchester City, reaching the 250-win mark in just 349 matches. To compare, Sir Alex Ferguson took 404 matches, and Arsène Wenger achieved his 250 wins in 423 matches. Guardiola expressed how honored he felt to join such esteemed ranks and jokingly mentioned inviting them to a dinner celebration.
Rodri’s injury concerns
In their match against Brentford, Manchester City secured a 1-0 victory, thanks to Erling Haaland’s ninth-minute goal, set up by Josko Gvardiol. Nevertheless, concerns arose when key midfielder Rodri had to exit the field in the first 20 minutes due to a hamstring issue. This comes not long after Rodri returned from a lengthy recovery following a cruciate ligament injury.
Post-match, Rodri shared with Sky Sports that while he felt some tightness, he didn’t think the injury was severe. He stressed the victory’s importance and mentioned he would focus on recovery before their next match.
Looking ahead
Following the victory, Manchester City stands fifth in the Premier League rankings with 13 points. Guardiola aims to build on this win in the upcoming match against Everton on October 18, at Etihad Stadium. Meanwhile, Rodri is expected to receive treatment and rest in the hopes of being fit for the game.
