Loan agreement with West Ham
On Friday, AC Milan announced they have reached an agreement to loan Niclas Füllkrug from West Ham until the end of the season. This deal also includes an option for the Italian club to purchase the striker for around â¬5 million.
Füllkrug’s career background
Füllkrug, at 32, has struggled to score this season, managing only three goals and making two assists in 29 appearances for West Ham. Despite this, AC Milan sees potential in his aerial skills and believes he can regain his form. Previously, Füllkrug played a pivotal role at Werder Bremen during their ascent to the Bundesliga in the 2021/22 season.
International experience
Having represented Germany in several international competitions, Füllkrug boasts an impressive record of 14 goals in 24 matches. He participated in the World Cup of November 2022, scoring two goals. While he was called for the national squad last September, injuries and a decline in performance have kept him from playing since.
AC Milan’s current standing
AC Milan is battling near the top of Serie A and is hopeful of clinching their first title since 2022. They are currently in second place, trailing Inter Milan by just one point as the season nears its midpoint. The team is preparing for their upcoming match against Cagliari this Friday evening.
