Loum Tchaouna, who joined Burnley from Lazio for $16 million, made a significant impact in his Premier League debut. Coming off the bench in the 58th minute, he scored a stunning goal from nearly 30 yards with his left foot, sending the ball into the top corner of the net.
The young French player, who previously played for Rennes and Salernitana, is also a member of the French U21 national team, having earned 10 caps and scored once. His performance helped Burnley secure a 2-0 win against Leeds United, with Lesley Ugochukwu also scoring from a perfect Kyle Walker cross.
This victory marks only Burnley’s second win of the season, allowing them to climb to 17th place in the Premier League table. Despite Leeds United dominating possession during the match, Burnley showcased effective finishing and teamwork, proving crucial in their fight against relegation.
After the match, Micky Gray noted that Burnley appeared more organized than Leeds. He expressed concerns about Leeds’ ability to score, stating they lacked the instinct to finish key opportunities. Leeds hit the post and created chances but struggled to convert them into goals, leaving their manager Daniel Farke with much to ponder.
Leeds United will face another tough challenge next as they host West Ham United, who are also struggling at the bottom of the table. Farke had previously downplayed the importance of the Burnley match, but the loss puts added pressure on the team to perform in their upcoming fixtures.
