Gabriel Magalhaes, a central figure in Arsenal’s defense, has encountered a troublesome thigh injury picked up during the international break. He departed the Brazil national team to get further medical checks at Arsenal’s facilities.
Initial estimates indicated Gabriel might be sidelined for about a month. However, newer assessments suggest that his recovery could extend to two months, contingent upon upcoming evaluations to determine how severe the injury is.
The timing of this injury is challenging for Arsenal, especially with crucial matches on the horizon against teams like Tottenham. Gabriel has been a defensive stalwart alongside William Saliba, contributing to Arsenal conceding a mere five goals so far in the Premier League season. Former striker Matt Le Tissier remarked that his absence at this juncture could pose a considerable challenge, particularly with fixtures looming against Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
The injury woes don’t end with Gabriel, as Arsenal also grapples with the fitness of captain Martin Ãdegaard and forwards Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli. Before the international break, manager Mikel Arteta was optimistic about their recovery. However, it’s uncertain whether they’ll be fit in time for the upcoming derby against Tottenham.
Arsenal faces a packed schedule, with at least 14 matches over the next eight weeks, including tests against Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea. If Gabriel indeed misses two months, his absence will be felt across key fixtures in several competitions.
