The young Norwegian footballer, Kristoffer Ajer, currently playing for Brentford, has been on the radar of several top European clubs. Among these, Wolfsburg has shown a keen interest. This Bundesliga club is planning to make a renewed bid for Ajer during the winter transfer period, hoping to bring him into their team.
Earlier this summer, Wolfsburg made an offer of â¬15.5 million for Ajer, which Brentford declined. Nevertheless, the German club remains determined and is gearing up to make another attempt to secure Ajerâs signature. Alongside Ajer, Wolfsburg is also considering an approach for West Ham’s Niclas Füllkrug, who has been out of form lately.
Ajer arrived at his national team camp with some minor injuries, but these are not serious enough to prevent him from playing. Under the guidance of Coach Keith Andrews, he has participated in five of Brentford’s eleven Premier League matches. However, he did miss their recent game against Newcastle due to fitness concerns.
Following the rejection of Wolfsburg’s initial bid, Brentfordâs head coach, Keith Andrews, made it clear how vital Ajer is for the team. Having moved to Brentford from Celtic in 2021, Ajer is contracted with the club until 2028, with an option to extend for another year.
Although Ajer received tempting offers from several clubs during the summer, he opted to stay at Brentford. He acknowledged the offers publicly, stating that they did not meet the terms acceptable to his current club. Recently, national team coach StÃ¥le Solbakken suggested that a move to Germany’s Bundesliga may better suit Ajerâs playing style, hinting it might be a positive step for his career.
