Manchester City has completed the transfer of Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace for an estimated â¬28 million. The 25-year-old defender is set to integrate into City’s squad this month, aiming to offset injuries in the team, notably to players like Josko Gvardiol and Rúben Dias.
As Guéhi’s contract with Crystal Palace approached expiration, several top European clubs showed interest. Although linked with Liverpool last summer, he is now committed to joining City, showcasing a sensible move for both the player and the team.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed the transfer’s final stages. He emphasized that while Guéhi’s departure is significant, it will not influence his own planned exit at the season’s end. Glasner complimented Guéhi’s professionalism throughout discussions and wished him continued success.
Since joining Crystal Palace in 2021, Guéhi has made an impact with 188 game appearances, significantly contributing to the team, including an FA Cup victory. As a captain, his leadership was pivotal, making his switch to Manchester City an exciting career progression. After four and a half years at Selhurst Park, marked by an England international status and a Community Shield win, Guéhi now embarks on a new chapter.
